Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen

Trade rumor out of Phoenix: Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa, and the 14th overall pick. Source: sports.ktar.com

Not sure if this is entirely speculation, but it is being talked about (Gambo & Ash) on the radio as I write this. No sources mentioned, so take it as such. They did mention that Boston initiated the proposal, and that the Suns have not made a comment on it as of yet.

On the surface, I don't like the trade. And I think most Celtics fans would feel the same way. On the flip-side, Phoenix fans are calling in, saying that Amare alone is worth Rondo and Allen. My question - where the hell would Perk play? Unless there's more to this, it makes little sense for the C's. However, this is the type of haul that Ray Allen's expiring contract, and another piece or two (not Rondo, by the way), could bring.

Well, sort of. On the surface, it would leave the C's extremely thin in the back court. However, I highly doubt a move like this is made without a contingency plan (see: the Ray Allen trade, which setup the KG trade). Ray Allen's expiring deal is HUGE, and this is exactly the type of haul it could bring. And, if the rumors are true that Rondo's agent is asking for a near max contract, then Ainge wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't explore the option of packaging he and Ray together to see what kind of bites he gets. One thing is for certain - Ainge has balls and would no doubt pull off a trade like this if the opportunity presented itself.
ARE YOU GUYS ON SMOKING CRACK.

IF THIS TRADE GOES DOWN IT WOULD BE THE NEXT WORSE TRADE SINCE RICK ROBEY FOR DENNIS JHONSON I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE SUNS ARE THINKING SUNS ARE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE NBA AS OF LAST YEAR RAY IS OK BUT RONDO DOES NOT FIT THE RUN AND GUN SYSTEM. AMARE ON THE OTHER HAND IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST POWER FORWARD IN THE GAME. BARBOSA IS UNBELIEVABLE EAST COAST NBA FANS DONT KNOW BECAUSE THEY ARE SNORING WHEN LB IS RACKING UP POINTS.STEVE KERR AND SARVER YOU DID A LOT OF DAMAGE ALREADY LAST YEAR DONT DO THIS DEAL.IF BOSTON DOES GET THIS TRADE THEY WILL WIN NEXT THREE CHAMPIONSHIPS GUARANTEE. WAKE UP PHOENIX SUNS MANAGEMENTS

Ray Allen washed up? Rondo never an All Star? Someone didn't watch the playoffs. LB is SO overrated and Amare is selfish and will never win a title. Oh and the 14th pick in the weakest draft of the new century. I'll keep Rondo thanks.
Sense?

As a lot of you mentioned this just doesn't make sense. Amarie and Barbosa are great players but as far as I know (and others mentioned) Nash isn't a free agent or definately not part of the trade so why trade for a PG. I think it's too bad everyone talks about Allen's age as he is still a great player as well.

The biggest part of this that I'm suprised no one has mentioned is the KG end of things. Clearly he's getting better and coming back - don't he and Amarie pretty much hate eachother!? The on court antics that has happened more than once I do believe. Why break up such a good chemistry when the future hopefully holds a healthy team for an uncertain team with no point guard!?

Work on the bench before you worry about anyone in that starting line-up!

As mentioned this probably (and dear GOD I hope) will not happen - so sorry for you Amarie fans/Allen nay-sayers!

This makes no sense, especially for the suns. Amare is the best scoring power forward allstar. Leandro barbosa averages 14 pts prg with in on ly 23 minuts. Allen is at the end of his career and the suns just traded for Jason richardson. The suns still have nash and they are not as high on Rajon as celtic fans are. He is a decent pt guard with good defense, however will never be an allstar.

A washed up shooting guard with an expiring contract and a nice up and coming PG for a 6'10 All-Star, a SG who can get you 15ppg AND the 14th pick!!! And Celtics fans aren't drooling. C'mon, it's basically Rondo for STAT, LB and the 14th pick. No way the Suns would ever do that. They could get an All-Star PG for that price instead of someone they mistakenly gave away 3 years ago.

I love the C's. They are my life and i love ray and rondo as players but its time for a change. Just go for it and lets mixe things up. The only way this will work tho is if we draft a PG. barbosa is not a true PG and Marbury is leaving so thats my only worry.
