For the next couple of weeks, I'll be running down my personal top-5 Celtics at each position, and then creating my All-Time Celtics 1st and 2nd Teams. Leading off? The men who quarterbacked the Celtics, and did it best - the point guards:

1. Bob Cousy -  Perhaps the first sign of the Celtics' well-storied luck was evident in 1950, when the Celtics drew Bob Cousy's name from a hat in the 1950 dispersal draft of the defunct Chicago Stags franchise. What exactly did Bob Cousy do with the Celtics? He was an All-Star each season he was with the team (winning the MVP in 2 of the games); won the NBA MVP following the 1956-57 season; was a top-10 scorer in his first 7 seasons; led the NBA in assists 8-straight seasons (1952-53 through 1959-60); NBA All-NBA 1st-team for 10-straight seasons (1951-52 through 1960-61). Cousy was part of 6 of the Celtics' 17 World Championships, and is still the all-time team leader in assists, as well as being top-10 in free throws attempted (5,753) and made (4,621), field goals attempted (16,465) and made (6,167), games (917), minutes (30,131), points scored (16,955), and per game scoring average (18.5). Cousy was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1971, and has his #14 retired by the Celtics. Cousy is often considered the first great point guard of the NBA, and is one of the greatest Celtics of all time.

2. Dennis Johnson - DJ is one of my favorite Celtics ever, and one of the most underrated and under-appreciated Celtics of all-time. Was a key member of the Celtics' dynasty of the 80s, winning 2 titles ('84 and '86); Larry Bird considers him the best player he ever played with. His #3 has been retired by the Celtics.

3. K.C. Jones - Jones was the defensive catalyst of the Celtics when they drafted him in 1956. He replaced Cousy as the Celtics' starting PG in 1963, leading the Celtics in assists for three straight seasons. He played 9 seasons in all, winning championships in 8 of them, and then won 2 more as head coach ('84 and '86). He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1989 and has his #25 retired by the Celtics.

4. Jo Jo White -  White was the Celtics' floor general from 1969 to 1979, helping lead them to two World Championships ('74 and '76). He was the Finals MVP in 1976, and is among the Celtics all-time leaders in minutes (26,770), points scored (13,188), assists (3,686), and free throw percentage (83%). He and his dapper attire can still be seen regularly during Celtics games at the Garden.

5. Rajon Rondo - A strong case could be made for Tiny Archibald here, but since this is my list, I chose to go with Rajon Rondo. While Rondo is only entering his 4th season, he has already proven to me to be one of the elite point guards in the NBA. And with a seemingly unlimited ceiling, and one ring already on his finger, he has the opportunity to move up this list quickly.
